I received a call from this number 1-437-555-0000

Called numerous times tonight until after 2130. GCI was of no help at all. They sell a $3.75 / month service which will block. What a rip off.

May I suggest that you simply place the phone down. Do not hang up. That will waste their time which is the most precious thing. THAT will teach them not to call you better than any donotcall list

Phoned after 10:00 p.m. Did not answer. Who or WHAT is this?

no person on calling end once call was answered

I received four calls from this number Sunday alone. More calls over a few other days.
Called my cable company (digital telephone) and they had NO CLUE!
I'm filing a complaint with the FCC for each call. You can too.
Go to http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm and select the ['Telemarketing'] option. Then select ['Abandoned Calls' ('Silent Calls', 'Dead Air Calls'...)]. Choose your preferred method of filing (mine is electronically) and fill out the form.
BLAST the FCC with complaints and FORCE them to INVESTIGATE!
(I'm going to attach a copy of my phone record as well)

8 calls yesterday, some within minutes of one another. So much for a Saturday off!

We have asked them FOUR TIMES to take our number off their call list. Each time they say they will. SO frustrating!!!!!! I have never been harassed like this!

From a little digging the number is shown as "American Directions Group". It wants you to send an email to info@americandirections.com to request that you be removed. I am afraid to email tem because they will probably start spamming me.
I got a call from 1-555-000-0000 at 9:38PM. The call woke up the entire family. When I asked who's calling, the man only gave me his first name. When I asked where he was calling from, he waid he was calling from the "NJ opinion survey". I googled that but can't find anything under that name. He asked to speak to my husband and wouldn't speak to me. I handed the phone to my husband and the man hung up. I can't wait for the call tomorrow. I didn't really want to get any sleep anyway and who doesn't love screaming babies woken by telephones who are wonderfully cranky the next day?! LOVE IT!

These sob's have called for four days in a row asking to speak to my husband. We don't accept these calls so I asked them to take our number off the call list. I don't know who they are, but now they're harassing us. What do we do?

Got a call from this phone number 2 times today. One of them was after 9:30.

I understand that people hate these calls for the most part, and unfortunately, the shifts that we're required to work DO happen to make us call around dinner-time/putting-kids-to-bed-time. If I could change it, I would. But I can't, so I'd like to give you all some info on how you can work with us to stop receiving calls, unless you like giving your opinion :P
1. If we ask for a specific person but you're not he/she, we can't put "Refusal" if YOU say they're not interested. That's a falsification, and I would lose my job. Just pass the phone to the individual we ask for so THEY can tell us, then we can remove the number from our database.
2. How do we get your number? Voter registry (Usually), which is public, even if it's unlisted. It's okay to say "Could you take our number off your calling list?" If you say that, then the call will be coded accordingly. However, there's no guarantee that another research firm won't get your number from the Voter registry again. OR another option, is to go through the survey (helps us out, too!), And then we don't have to call you again for a while (But, again, that's if you like giving your opinions).
3. It's not US dialing your number. We have an automatic dialer (or RoboDialer, as I've heard it called), and unfortunately, if we code a call as "Unavailable" it will keep calling according to it's own schedule, which is (For lack of a better word) sporadic and rather...Aggressive...None of us can control HOW often your number is dialed. I really hate that part.
4. The Do Not Call List: You may be under the impression that because you have registered your phone number with the Do Not Call Registry, that you will never receive a call from anyone you don't know again. That's not entirely correct. When you put your number on the DNC, that ONLY bans telephone solicitors from calling you. Organizations who are exempt from the National DNC are listed at this address: telemarketing.donotcall.gov
5. Nobody's on the line! >_< Sorry a

Well dude, lose your job if you reach a quota? Hmm...do you realize how unethical is calling people in the night? Would you be kind to give me your BOSS' phone number so I can call his ass in the middle of the night? Thank you.

Dude, get a real job and stop harrassing people. Tell you what, give me your and your boss' number so we all can call you all hours of the night to ask stupid questions.
This company has called me all weekend long, Saturday they caled 3 times right after another in the early morning. Sunday they called 3 more times right after each other in the evening, I did not answer as I did not know who it was the number is 555-000-0000.

we are on the national do not call list and they still call us

I told them I don't answer questions for free. If thy were getting paid and I had the product of value...I want my share.
I don't donate my time to someone else making money off it.

did not answer phone, came up unavilable and the 1-555-000-0000 called at 5:20 pm on March 17, 2010, got curious called back the number and it was a recording saying please dial a 1 before the number, this was the 1st call for me so we will see how many times they call

this company was calling about political surveys, called numerous times a day and late into the evening, past 9 PM.

Get a phone call from Unaval. with the phone # of 555 000-0000. When answer the call, it is a hang up.

This company called us 3 times in 2 hours, after we asked them not to call. Their phone service is very poor and it is hard to fully understand them. They not only called consistently, but also after legal hours.
