I have begun getting this number, not coming through on my telephone, but it is being offered in response to ads for fine art and collectible items placed for sale on Craigslist. As NO area is currently assigned to any of those numbers (including and between) 672- 677, should you receive a call from just such a number- especially 673- you may be assured the call has been spoofed. Spoofing is when the caller has the skills necessary to cheat the telephone network he is calling upon, forcing it to display a number other than his real and true one on your Caller ID display. This is done for no other reason than to confuse the issue of identity.

Please be aware, the ONLY reason spoofed calls are made is out of an attempt to steal your money. Do not make it easier for these thieves than necessary by returning such a call. Any attempt at making such contact will only give the thief confidence that he has begun to reel you in. Should such a call come in and you have "Call Blocking" service on your phone, this is the first thing I would try. If this does not dissuade the caller, then report the number to your carrier as a spoofed call. Either that, or simply erase the call and forget about it. Whatever you do, though, do not answer such a call, and certainly do not return it. If you do you can count on being harassed for an endless amount of time to come.
