They've been calling here for at least three years...sometimes several times a week, sometimes only once or twice a month. The caller claims to be from the Canadian Business Bureau (there is no such entity) and always wants to know whether we have found a new location. Our company relocated almost 7 years ago. A few minutes of research online has turned up all sorts of complaints about calls from this number, with the caller always claiming to work for some business development agency for any number of cities throughout North America.

Now that I know this is a scam of some kind, the next time they call I will record the conversation, tell them I know they're just illegally fishing for information and remind them that in Canada, there is a do-not-call list, preventing just this type of harassing phone call. With any luck just the threat of legal action will be sufficient, but I'm definitely prepared to make a formal complaint if need be. They are driving me crazy!!

Then again, it might be more fun (and a more fitting revenge as well) to play along with them, answer their questions with ridiculous ones of my own until they decide to hang up. Sounds like fun to me :-)
