I had a telephone call saying there were dangerous viruses that had got into my computer and that they could get rid of them and stop them coming again for free. I spent 1 hour or more doing things until their cursor took over - I should have guessed as I had a big warning from McAfee- eventually they asked for money so I cut them off. Coulld have cried with fear they put into me and my stupidity.
The caller, with a very heavy accent (maybe Dutch), asked to speak with "Mrs. X". When I told her there was no one here by that name, she said "oh, it this phone number xxx-xxx-xxxx?" I told her it was and she said that she was calling because my computer was at risk. She said the name of her company was Creative Solutions. She asked me to get on the internet. I asked how she could know that there was something wrong with my computer and she skirted the issue. She asked if I live in Middletown, Delaware (which anyone can tell from my phone number) and I said yes. She said that of course, then, she had the correct person and information. I asked her what she was selling and she said, "If this were a sales call, I would have stated that at the beginning of the call". I asked if this was some kind of scam and she asked, "What is a scam?". She hung up in the middle of the next sentence to make it look as if we were disconnected.
