Thank you for your information. Over time, we have received several complaints like yours. Upon investigation, we have found that these 406 area code numbers belong to an unknown out-of-state company that purchased/leased the Montana phone number from a known telemarketing company that purchased/leased it from a Los Angeles based competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) named Pacific Telecom. Please see the three tiered call sequence below:
1. Pacific Telecom –
2. Either TM Caller ID LLC or another telemarketing company –
3. The unknown out-of-state company which called you from (406) 640-8516, (406) 224-9004, etc

We are advising consumers to file complaints against the two known entities in this scheme, Pacific Telecom and the middleman telemarketing company.

We have notified the Federal Communications Commission regarding these calls, and have been informed that consumers may file individual complaints with them [fccinfo@fcc.gov or (888) 835-5322]. You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission [www.ftc.gov or (877) 382-4357] regarding any harassing calls, Do Not Call violations, and violations of the Telemarketing Sales Rule (e.g., Truth in Transmitting Caller ID Information).
