This is what you need to do to cease contact with Portfolio Recovery- Send them a CERTIFIED LETTER WITH RETURN RECEIPT (this way you have the name of the person who signed for the certified letter). The letter should be as follows:

Your Name & Address;

Today's Date;

Name & Address of Collection Agency, in this case
Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC,
POBox 12941,
Norfolk, VA 23541

Dear Sir/Madam:

Please stop all contact with me about account number________________, with
(name of bank or creditor). The Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act requires that you stop contacting me as soon as you receive this letter.

I sent this letter to Portfolio Recovery on Saturday October 1st, received back the signed return receipt on October 4th, and since then I have received NO CALLS OR LETTERS from Portfolio Recovery since then, and they used to call me 4 and 5 times a day. Try it, it worked for me!
