I received a phone call today from this number...it was a man with a heavy East Indian accent telling me that my computer has reported corrupted files through error messages, and that he was from a company called V-tech which is an affiliate of Microsoft. When I questioned him in detail (because I was highly suspicious from the get go), he kept repeating the same thing over again. I finally told him that I am not doing anything over the phone with him (he wanted me to start my computer and do some things online with him)...I told him no way! I asked if I could go through Microsoft's website for technical help if I was really having issues, and he told me "NO, your computer will crash immediately"....at that point I knew it was bogus and told him I wasnt doing anything over the phone with him and not to call again.....then I hung up.

Yes it is....TOTAL SCAM....you better check your credit and make sure they have not used your social security number! Never verify information...especially personal information like this over the phone when you do not know who they are. Theses people are calling lots of people posing as tech support for your computer, car loans, collections agencies, etc....and all they are doing is trying to get your personal information out of you...which you have done....so I would start looking into credit reports and other things to make sure they have not opened accounts in your name and charged up thousands of dollars in your name.
Yes it is a scam...and good thing you hung up...they tried doing the same thing to me...and when I told them I will contact Microsoft directly he got angry and said "NO it will crash my computer instantly"....PLEASEEEeeeeee! Nice try, but not falling for it. Glad you didnt either!
