Maybe this information will help someone save an ENTIRE DAY trying to get their name/number off the dreaded BoA badger list. If you are receiving erroneous collection calls on a mortgage you don't have, CALL 1 (800) 669-6607, NOT the number they call from. That number just routes you to clueless collectors in call centers all over the world who will promise you're off the list. When you call, if you don't have a loan or the ssn# of the unknown borrower, mumble audibly but unintelligibly during the automated prompts and be patient...they'll try over and over, but eventually you'll get a representative. If you say "no" or say nothing, Computer Cathy will tell you to call back when you have the information. Gibberish confuses her. Ask the representative to send your information to their main solicitation or contact group - called the CAMPAIGN Department. That should "stop the majority of calls immediately." I was told all calls would cease by the end of the month, and today is the 12th. Write down who you spoke to, when, and what they promised. If they don't deliver, call the corporate number 1 (704) 386-5681 and they will elevate your complaint to ... the queen, I guess? I was very polite but I did mention that I filed complaints with the Attorney Generals' offices in IL (my home state) and NC (their home state) and with the FCC, which I did. We'll see what happens....
