Got a message dated Jan 21st 2013 (I really never listen to my voicemail) stating my name, and that I had been named as a respondant in a court action which required me to appear in court. The order to show includes a restraining order, the message says. Claim and Affidavit number was repeated twice so I could be sure to write it down. Was told to forward this information to my attorney and that I or my attorney had 24-48 hours to oppose this. Stated on the message that the call was from "The Civil Investigations Unit". That's real hilarious. Good thing I used to work in telemarketing, I can smell a scam within 2 minutes. But I won't lie, they had me for about 1 minute. Then I realized a.) I'd get this in the mail b.) if your presence is required in court, you'll likely be served in person, especially if a restraining order is involved and c.) I don't know anyone in nor have I ever been to the 774 area code, Massachusetts. And if I were to get a call from a court anywhere, they'd say what state, not just a generic "civil investigations unit" LOL. ***FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE FCC!!!*** I'm guessing they're not paying their telemarketing license fee if they're pulling this kind of crap, I'm 99% sure that this is illegal but even if it's not, what they're pulling is so shady, that tells me they're not paying the thousands of dollars it costs to call all of the 50 states in the USA. They have to pay a bond to the FCC and when the FCC finds out they're getting cheated out of their money, they WILL go after these clowns. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO. Don't call back from your own phone number. Just telling you what I know about dealing with scum like this.
