They called "This is Jack Richard from the IRS stating there was a legal complaint filed against your identity" of my minor child and to call him back. Since my father is an FBI parole officer, I called him back of course. He hung up quickly hearing that. I helped him out by placing his number on facebook to have other call him.

Yep, same thing happened to me today, June 10 2016--same number, same city. Man with an Indian accent said he was calling from Federal Law Enforcement and was handling a legal case file against me.

"Gary Jones" called me and said he was from "Federal Law Enforcement" and a case file had been opened against me because of some education tax credit. He was transferring me to the officer who had my "case file."

Thanks, Gary, but no thanks.

I just received a call with the same message. He knew the college I had attended and said that I had a federal education student tax that I had not paid and when I told him this wasn't a real thing the caller (from the 'Tax Department' for "General Revenue Service' told me he would have the sheriff at my door in 25 working minutes. He was very aggressive but this definitely smelled like a scam so I took my chance and hung up on him:) Number he called from was 516-214-2215 Garden City, NY

My college student daughter just received call from heavily accented Indian woman(?) named "Danny Williams." "Danny" told daughter she owed $1250 for some sort of education expense tax. "Danny" knew the college daughter attends, and said the form was sent to my daughter months ago and the payment was months overdue. Daughter found something in her spam folder. Daughter freaked out and came to me with the "woman" still on phone (daughter thought it was a man with a high-pitched voice because of name - "Danny" -- sounded female to me). I knew about scams calling and saying you owed taxes -- which isn't what the IRS would do anyway. So, I asked "Danny" from where and for whom she was calling and I asked to speak to her supervisor. She said she was with the "Federal Law Enforcement Department" -- there is no such thing. It took about 5 - 6 minutes to get a street address out of her. I told her a real Law Enforcement Department would be happy to give me their street address. She finally gave me 2233 West Drive, NY, NY. I looked it up on google maps -- it's a Fed Ex shipping center. She never gave me her supervisor's name or put him/her on the phone. I told her I'd call back after checking things out. I am reporting this to FTC on their complaint website.

I received a call from this number today telling me that I was wanted by the IRS for not filling out some tax form related to educational expenses. The caller was a male with an Indian accent and his English was moderately fluent. The caller did correctly name the university that I attended. I also kept hearing some kind of weird background noise, like pounding metal or some kind of construction work and there was a lot of static. When I asked the caller why he was calling from NY when I live in a different state he got sort of angry and said that there are offices all over the US. He then told me to expect to be arrested by the sheriff.

Same type of call, the heavy accent presented himself as an officer of the IRS Services (that is what the moron actually said on VM) and stated I have legal complaints against me. Since this area code is associated with Nassau County, NY I have contacted their police department so they can possibly track down this activity.

I received the same call from a heavy Indian accent guy telling me I have 3 criminal charges related to student tax, which I asked him to explain more to me, he just kept repeating whay he had said. Then asked me to make a decision to whether hiring a lawyer. After I told him I will find a lawyer to figure out the matter, he just replied you are in jail already then hung up

Called again a few days after they told me 'to fuck off bitch'. I thought it was funny because the English was so bad. I called back and told him that he sounded like he was 5' 1" and 110 lbs. He sounded like he was about to cry and said the same 'fuck off bitch' then hung up.

A "Gary Jones" with a heavy accent called my wife on 5/31 from this number with the statement similar to what others heard. She was driving she did not speak for long. But as she is in a medical field and owns a small clinic she got quite concerned and immediately called me and asked to call them back and figure out what is going on ("a claim against you", "Federal Law Dept" blah blah blah). A simple google search led me to this thread (thank you!).
Anyways, what can be done about these guys? Can they be reported to either local police or FTC or any other actual law enforcement agency?

Similar to the other complaints, I also received a call from a male with a thick Indian accent who addressed me by first and last name and claimed to be with Federal Law Enforcement, saying there was a complaint against me. I immediately knew this was fake, plus the fact that it is an out of state number, but it was still really creepy.

Yeah, same story for me. I told him he needed to talk louder because I couldn't hear him and he then got quiet and hung up the phone. I think they blocked my number because he wont let me call him back. Someone with an Indian accent, sounds like he is about 5' 3" and 120 lbs.

I'm at work, so I just let the call go to voicemail. It was a man with a heavy Indian accent stating he was John Tyler calling from Federal Law Enforcement stating someone had filed a complaint against me and that I needed to call back right away as the situation was time sensitive. He knew my "full" first name, which I do not go by and don't have listed on social media, as I've gone by a "nickname" since birth. Not sure how they got my number first scam call I've ever received, however I just switched to AT&T in October 2015.

I received a call form this number for my 17 year old son. They said they were federal law enforcement and if he did not want to be arrested, he should call back. I Googled their number and called them back. Kevin Anderson answered and I asked him who he was and what he wanted. I then told him I had looked up his number and he was part of a scam. He said,"Scam?" I said yes, you call and lie to people and try to take advantage of them. I told him there is no such thing as federal law enforcement and he hung up.

Called me while I was on the other side of the country, after confronting him about it he proceeded to call me a "cocksucker" and then threatened to "beat [my] ass" in the next 45 minutes.

I just received a call from an IRS officer (impersonating to be one). When I said I would prefer receiving a mail or meeting someone in person, he threatened me that 911 will be notified and I will be arrested in 30 mins. He was talking to me while having a police officer on line who will be investigating me.
