Got voicemail from this guy asking to call back at this number but the call showed an 800 number. Jason Thompson I doubt is Indian. Reading the above comments will block him

They called a relative's work number looking for me. (Name was foreign-sounding.) I had *never* given the relative's number out (we aren't that close), which leads me to believe it's someone with sinister motives to get me to call them and then they get my number to sell to telemarketers. They did NOT say they were from American Express and actually said they couldn't tell my relative where they were calling from, which seemed suspicious to the relative, who was concerned enough to call me. Nonetheless, reading the other comments here, I did cancel an AMEX card over six years ago and for the longest time, they were trying to make me pay the annual fee of $95 which I had asked to be waived since I no longer wanted it, had no balance on the card, and hadn't used it for quite a long time. It may be an attempt to collect $95 from me, but that sure is aggressive. My relative's not going to pay it, either!

American Express collections calling on very old debt, being farmed out to someone in India to make these calls. Idiot with thick accent calls. Blocked and DONE. Never answer ANY calls from numbers you don't know, people! This idiot spoofs lots of different numbers from your local area code to make it look as if someone local is calling. Don't fall for their games.

Important! This number (877-434-3248) is NOT from American Express. They are commuting fraud by claiming they are AMEX. Apparently (after research by an investigator) They are a credit mill firm that buys up old uncollected debt from banks and other debtors with bogus inflated amounts. For example, they will attempt to claim the debt is $10,000 when in actuality the debt over 25 years ago may have been only $500. They buy these uncollected debts for absolutely nothing (literally pennies) then try to intimidate unsuspecting people that they owe a 25 year old debt with hard treats and then settle for about $1000. DO NOT BE TRICKED BY THESE CON ARTIST! If you ever had a debt over 7 years old, it's over (uncollected) and don't you dare feel a bit guilty about it because the original debtor charged it off as a loss years ago and the IRS gave them a tax credit (in other words, they didn't lose a dime). So PLEASE don't fall for these con artist and block their calls!
