They called with a very bad "computer generated" sounding female voice telling me it was my final notice of a lawsuite against me by the irs.

I'm in the UK, I received unsolicited that showed as originating from 00 15308 889043 (prefix Redding, California) at 14:00 GMT/Zulu.
The speaker, a male with an Indian accent, told me 'I'm calling from Microsoft about your computer' and since I thought it highly unlikely (I'm being ultra polite: try calling Microsoft out of the blue to discuss your computer and see where you get) I rang off.
The number appears on various prank/scam/obscene call reports.
Just in case the caller searches for his own press, be advised: under British law a person can - and will - make recordings and pass them to the appropriate authorities...

I received a call telling me that the government was awarding me $7000 for being a "good citizen". He even gave me a "code" and the number to his "supervisor". (I called the number and no one answered). Knew my address and everything, but I've moved. He kept asking me questions like: "what are you going to do with the money" and "what do you do for a living". He also kept saying I could use the money to pay taxes and bills. Pretty weird. Definitely a scam.

told me he was from microsoft and my computer giving viruses. I told him he was wrong that iam married to an It Guy who checks the sytem regularly and he hung up.

Same with me.. he asked me to view Event Logs of my computer. I asked him what is the purpose and who are you. First he said, we are Windows service provider, and then he said we are not Microsoft. I asked him for the website of the company, and he said.. www.hpserve.com which doesn't exist and then he said we are franchise of Microsoft.

He said you have errors and warnings in your application logs which means your computer is at risk. I explained him that is not the case, and application warning is written when something goes wrong in the application, it doesn't necessarily means it is at risk - you cannot claim that just on basis of application logs.

Bloody sucker and then I told him I am a software engineer... what are you telling me.. he hung up ... WASTED MY TIME

The caller said he is from Microsoft and Microsoft has received reports automatically send from my computer. He is calling me after reviewing all the error reports received from my computer. He wants to correct those error otherwise, serious harm to my computer. He asked me to enter some code, so that he can access the screen and assist in trouble shooting the error. I used my mobile and dialed the number to see what the response while talkinyg to this guy. I received an error message saying " we are sorry, you have reached the number that has been disconnected or no longer in service". I asked him about it, this guy hung up the phone. Please be careful with these type of calls.

When the call came in, it took a few seconds before the caller said anything and there was a lot of talking in the background like someone was at home. The caller said that he was from the U.S. government and I knew that it wasn't legit and hung up.

This is a SCAM, report immediatly to you State Attorney Generals office and the FTC. Caller very rude, made threats.
