Robocalls: Government Scam Calls

Robocalls that pose to be legitimate government agencies but are in reality scams are labeled as "government scams". There are various types of government scams, with the IRS being impersonated being the most common. This is where a robocall is made pretending to be an IRS employee trying to trick you into believing that you committed tax fraud or owe the IRS taxes. Oftentimes, these scams can be very convincing, as they will have access to your personal information about you, such as your address and even your social security number. Other common government agencies that are used in these calls are the Social Security Administration, Medicare, or local law enforcement. All of these government scam robocalls are illegal, and you should never wire anyone money based off of threats made in a phone call. The best practice to avoid getting scammed is to call the government agency the caller is claiming to be apart of, and asking them to confirm you are truly talking to one of their employees. You can also ask them if they are needing you to pay tax or answer questions related to a crime the caller is talking about. If the real government agency says you are talking to a scammer, you should hang up and block the number.

They called. I did not pick up. I returned the call and got a message to call this number from a land line phone. The original number used was 500-161-7020

Received text from 971-329-9752 that says "Thank You"! Called this number and referred to 800-331-0500 OR 611. Pretty much it!!

They didn't call me, I called them. I was told by an ATT rep to call this number for customer retention. It's a legitimate number. Since I'm a long time customer, I was able to get my monthly bill which had just increased $50 reduced for a year for DirecTV & ATT.

This is for a fact ATT.

I called there today because I got an email telling me that my mailing address doesn´t seem right. They told me to call this number.
I wasn´t sure at first because I don´t trust 800 numbers, and I found this page here…
I dialed the number in the email which is this one and ATT customer service appeared.
A very nice lady was on the phone and she even helped me sign into my account after I forgot my password.
She could not have done it if it wouldn´t have been legit.

So just know, it IS ATT customer service.

They really are ATT! I just called them because there was a problem with my mailing address.

This IS att customer service!
I don´t trust 800 numbers either but this one is legit... and I wasn´t sure about the email I got as well, so I typed this number in and this appeared.
I want to make sure you know it IS ATT.
She even helped me change my password on att.com because I forgot it. If it wasn´t legit, this could not have happened.

THIS IS NOT A SPAM CALL IT IS IN FACT AT&T. I know this because I asked the rep to call me today about their cable and he sent me a text saying my phone said it was out of service. I have an app called robo killer it picked up that call. It isn’t spam for sure!!! Just FYI

Called and did not follow prompts. This scammer states for security purposes the account is suspended and to reactivate, press 1. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to detect the poor quality or wording used to be suspect of the caller. Anyway, contacted ATT and they confirmed it was not them.

Called me and didn't answer them. I don't have these scum bags and never will. Oh by the way, I'm on the State and Federal do not call lists but guess that just gives them numbers to call. Bite this AT&T!

Called and stated my account had been suspended for security reasons. Then asked for the last 4 of my SSN to verify my account. I hung up and called AT&T via 611 from my mobile phone. They confirmed that it was someone spoofing their number and there was nothing wrong with my account.

I returned the call from a landline as well as googled ATT Customer Service number. This is a legit call from ATT to promote their Buy 1 Get 1 line or apple product.

Called and asked for personal information and I hung up but woman claim to be from AT&T but I’m an employee with the company.
