Seems like a scam call phishing for personal info.

Legitimate call to inform me that the COVID relief program had been extended.

Some federal student loans were transferred to Nelnet in 2022, because FedLoan Services stopped servicing student loan debt. If you had a student loan, the account may have been transferred here, and they are required to tell you about the relief program.

Spam, bullshit caller trying to steal money. Called me after i paid off loans. I told them I paid my loans and they said “ummm well… (30 second pause) the federal government “thinks differently”

Called me about my student loans. I asked what they wanted to tell me about my student loans which I understand enough about already and he said the call was to tell me more information regarding payment deadlines and how much I owe. I was already super sketched out and he said in order to continue I'll need your DOB and last 4 of social and at that point I knew it was a scam. Do not give these people any personal information.

Fck Them!!! Scam Artists!!!🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

They called me. I answered no response so I hung up and blocked the number.

Right after I made a student loan payment over the phone to Nelnet, I received 2 phone calls from 855-720-8900. She called me by name, and she mentioned something to the effect I was having problems with my payment, and I said I was not, told her I made the payment and received a confirmation number, and she said okay. Is this phone number legit? Was she trying to scam me? I have never received a phone call from Nelnet until today. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Asked for personal information. I hung up.

This is NelNet, a student loan servicer. They called to provide me with some information I had requested. Legit.

Caller: NelNet

It's spam! They called about a student loan that has been paid off by the US Army for several years.

One man called. When I called back, they asked for my [1] Student Loan Number; or [2] Social Security Number. | When I gave my Social Security Number, the voice recorded said, "Office closed. Call back Monday to Friday, 8 am to 10 pm."

Should have blocked them automatically

Just got a text message that nearly gave me a heart attack saying “Your Nelnet account hit default status soon Reply YES to postpone payments for 12 mos due to hardship but intend to repay. 8557208905 Reply STOP to OptOut” and then I realized I don’t have any loans through NelNet and also the message is formatted sloppily. Glad I found out for sure it was a scam, saved me an hour on the phone double-checking with the company.

*** STUDENT LOAN SCAMMER ALERT ***
These people use illegal, automated robo-calls claiming "this is truly your final offer to refinance your student loan debt with NelNet". Yet every time they've called for the past 2 YEARS, they've said it was my final offer... even when they called twice a day! DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL DATA TO THEM!!!
Their calls started in Jan 2017 and continue, even though I've told them numerous times to stop calling me and I will not do business with them. From Oct to Nov 2017, they called me literally every weekday, sometimes twice a day.
I don't have any student loan debt at all, so obviously this is a scam/ fraud designed to get my personal financial information... as if I'd ever give this to a random stranger who calls in the middle of the day.
A previous caller told me their address, but I don't know how accurate it is:
National Student Help Center, 26970 Maple St, Sacramento, CA
www.studentloans.org
I have consulted with 2 attorneys about this issue, but both of them said there's nothing they can do since this company doesn't seem to have a real address.
They called my cell phone, which is on the FTC and State of FL Do Not Call List.

Loan consolidation scam

Call today from this 844-801-9992 above, did not answer, call was blocked by app.

Received a call from a woman who said her name was Lauren and that she was calling about my student loan and that it was "getting discharged". She kept asking me multiple questions trying to get me to say "yes or ok". I did neither. I told her I didn't understand "getting discharged" she said that 1/2 of the loan would be taken away and all they had to do was get me set up. She asked for my e-mail so they could send me a verification code right now. I told her that I didn't have internet access so I would have to go to the library and I only do that once a month. Then she said, "You can't access it from your mo bile phone?" Very strong I believe Indian Accent. I told her no and she asked why I can't pull up my e-mail on my phone. I told her that I can't afford a fancy phone. Then she said ok, we can do this another way. "What is your date of birth?". I said No, if you are really with the department of education as you say and you have my loan information, then you already have all of my information. I then said I believe this is a scam. She replied, "No this is not a scam, this is completely legitimate with the department of education." She asked if I was still in school and if my loan was over $5,000.00. I told her that I have never been to college and that my loan was a parent loan. Then there was total silence for a few seconds. I could tell it was a call center with all the voices in the background until that very moment when there was absolutely nothing. So I'm sure she was being coached and put her phone on mute while someone else was telling her what to say. When she came back she said, "Yes, this is a parent loan, so we can proceed, ok?" I didn't respond. Then she asked if my child was still in school. I responded with a No. Then she asked if the loan was in my name or in my childs name. I responded with," It's in my name and your asking all of these questions and I can tell you are calling from a call center so I believe this is a scam and your not even an American so Goodbye. Then I hung up. Kind of strange that I got this call like two hours after I spoke to someone with Nelnet regarding my student loan. Are there workers at Nelnet in kahoots with these scammers? Can't trust anybody these days. It's a shame.
