"Joe" left a voice mail telling me that there was a problem with my credit card and to call that number (I had just received it, not used it, but had activated it). Someone, a woman, called back from 800-935-9935 saying that they were looking into possible fraud and someone would call me back within 24-48 hours. I said that wasn't acceptable and I will cancel my application and use the credit cards I already have. Then I called the number on the back of the card and requested a new card which will be sent overnight. Thanks REAL Chase Fraud Dept.

I received this call from 1-800-454-9078 and was leery about it so i came to this site and others. I followed the advice of a writer who had called the number on back of card, and after checking my account charges on line and saw one new gas charge that could have been made by my husband. I checked with him and he had entered the wrong zip code at the pump and started over again. I then called and had to also put in the entire card #, first 3 letters of mother maiden name, and 3 # code on back of card. I was then told it was not fraud and I could continue using card. I gave this information because I had called the number on card so I was sure it was real. So this number appears to be legit even though it was automated.

Not a scam. I did verify by calling the number on the back of the card. They knew I received the call 10 mins earlier, my current card is cancelled, a new one is being sent, and that I was told I would get an email within 6 hrs with details.

People, people...LISTEN to me. I'm a professional OTC Cryptocurrency Trader, licensed with FinCEN as a Money Service Business. I've had a longstanding business account with Chase and send four-figure Zelle payments out several times a day. Unfortunately, the nature of Chase security and fraud prevention is to put a temporary hold on these transfers from time to time for "review". I've called (800)-454-9078 so many times I've added it to my my cell's phonebook for convenience. This IS IN FACT the direct line to Chase's Fraud Deptartment and they have the ability (no matter what they might tell YOU plebs) to push ANY Zelle payment through for immediate completion if you know how to ask. I have no reason to lie to you. In fact if you're unsure, by all means call the (800)-935-9935 line from the back of your debit card. I couldn't care less WHO you call. I just wanted balance out the rampant paranoia and disinformation being espoused with what I know to be absolute fact. Word of advice (take it or leave it...I don't care), if your Chase initiated Zelle payment is ever placed on hold, ANY Chase agent can cancel the transfer and provide an immediate refund if you promptly request it. But only the specialists in the Fraud Department AT THIS NUMBER have the ability to expedite the review and actually complete your transfer. That is all...I've wasted too many precious minutes of my morning on this already.

Call IS from Chase Credit Card fraud dept. If in doubt, as I was, call Chase directly using the number for customer service, on the back of your card. Numerous suspicious charges had been attempted on my card, Chase denied them and cancelled the card. A simple call to Chase has a new card on the way, and an identity thief frustrated. Well done Chase.

Thanks to posters like you, I realized it was not a scam call. and I called the number on the back of my card. I will be getting a new card in a few days, and will not be charged for the fraudulent charges of $235.00. Good job!

Do not call this number. I got an email asking if I made a purchase, which I hadn't, I clicked no. Then was told my card was blocked and to call (800) 454-9078. I then got a call saying to call that number but they didn't use the correct name that was on my card. I called chase using the number on the back of my card, they did mention the purchase in question. They then blocked my card. When in doubt call the number on the back of your credit card.

It is no a scam. Today I got an email from the Chase Fraud Prevention department, and while it's true that the email looked suspicious. I made sure that the sender was legit. So I clicked on the "YES" green button which took me the page that shows the 800-454-9078 number. I called, followed the prompt and entered the four last digits on my card, but as soon as i was asked to enter the 3 digits security code I hung up. I then checked my bank account and saw such charge. HOWEVER, i noticed there was a charge from a week ago, an online purchase I never made from a New York based store (I live in Portland, OR). So that is when I decided to call the number on the back of my card and, to my surprise, i had to follow the same prompts as the previous call i made. So I entered the security code and waited for an agent. I had to provide the same info to the person on the phone and also answer a couple of security question to confirm identity. Once that was done I told the agent about the December 24th transaction and she asked me about the recent transaction, the one that showed in the email and which I never told the agent about. I told her I didnt see it on my account. She told me it was blocked by Chase and waiting for my response. I told her i didnt made that purchase and that apparently my cc has been compromised. She said my card will be blocked and a new one would be sent to me.
In short, in my case neither the email nor the 800 number were a scam They were real. And I am glad I didnt ignore them. I would advise anyone who receives a text, phone call or an email from chase to call to the number on the back of their card to clear things up.
Good luck and happy new year.

This # is a fraud - they want you to enter your security code.
I checked my account on-line and found no fraud alert

This number is NOT a scam. It is definitely legitimate. My online account did not indicate a possible fraudulent purchase, but when I called Chase using the number on the back of my card, the customer service representative said there was a charge in question and that Chase had called my home and left 800-454-9078 as the number to call.

Received a text message from "Chase" and was directed to call 800-454-9078. This is a phony number and NOT the Chase Fraud department. I called the proper Chase Fraud department number based on their website and I have not had suspicious activity. DO NOT fall for this hoax.

This is part of the fishing process. My wife got the call, although my # is the primary one. She had just received 3 texts about a fraud charge. She declined them. That is when they called her.

She pressed a button as prompted when MY name was given. The call then hung up. So now they have my name tied to the card. I went online to my bank account and saw a $4 charge by Coca Cola that followed a charge I made at an airport. There was also a -$4 back to the card so I received my money.

They pinged the card to see if anyone notices and then call you for more information. Several minutes after my wife got the call I received a call as well, and did not answer it as that would confirm my # is good and tied to the card.

The fraud charges my wife declines were also NOT on the account, in case anyone was curious about that. Only go by the phone numbers found on the website or the back of your card.

Twice I got a call about a Home Depot card (which was closed years ago) being over due, and the woman on the line asked me for my age right off the bat. I like to answer the fake calls at times just to mess with the teller :)

I received a call from 800-935-9935. This is the phone number for Chase Customer Care (you can find it on the Chase website). They told me to call the Chase Fraud Department at 800-454-9078. This is indeed the Chase Fraud Department. Yes, they have two different phone numbers because they are calling from two separate divisions of Chase. This is a Legit number.

I received a call from someone the caller ID identified as phone number 972-812-5500 TEXAS. They left a voicemail stating they were the Chase fraud department calling regarding my account ending in "XXXX". They left a different number to return the call - 1-800-454-9078 - and said to be sure and have my credit card with me when I call them back. I did not call. I wonder how many people fall for this stuff still... If they are Chase... THEY HAVE YOUR CC NUMBER!... PLEASE do not ever give this info to anyone over the phone! When I googled the number, it's not even from TX, it's listed in CA! About an hour later I received another call from JAMAICA- They didn't leave a message... so I can't be sure the two are related - but very random that I would receive them both so close together.

We received an email about suspicious account activity that looked like it came from Chase. To the untrained eye it would have looked legitimate but I build web applications and could tell by both the look and feel and the subdomain hyperlinks that it was fake and deleted it. A week later my wife gets a voicemail telling her to call this number. I check our account (again mind you, I already did when I got the email) and there is NO activity. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. We have an account but do not use it so this is correct. I called Chase using the number on the back of my card, they confirmed, no activity. So why are we getting a call from this number?

Out of curiosity I went ahead and called. They sound somewhat legitimate on the phone but again, there were little things that I could tell made it fake. I did not provide them any information and they provided me with no information. The person I spoke with had an Indian accent and was personable. They also recommended I call the number on the back of the card.

Amongst the "it's a SCAM" comments and "no it's NOT" comments, I want you to consider one thing. Can something be legitimate when it's validity is repeated called into question? I don't think so. I think you need to verify that your account is in good standing but only by logging into the chase website from typing in the URL your self (never use links in email) or calling the number listed on the back of your credit card.

I've looked up questionable phone numbers before from the site in the first page of Google results. That's how I got here. This is the first I've ever seen where people go back and forth about it being fake or real. That to me is the biggest sign something is wrong. My bet is all the comments saying it is a SCAM are correct and all the other comments (no matter how reasonable they may sound) are actually made by the scammers trying to put on over on you.

Hopefully you see this too...
