What is a "Government Scam" Robocall?

Scammers who call people posing as a government agency are commonly referred to as "government scams". There are many different agencies these callers pose as, but they most commonly pose as the IRS. They say you have not paid your taxes and are wanted by the government. These calls can be very convincing, as they will usually have your name and home address, but they will request your social security number and sometimes even your bank information. There are other government agencies these scammers pose as, such as your local police department, the Social Security Administration, and Medicare. When people pose as government agencies, they are violating the law and should be reported immediately. If you are unsure if you are truly talking to a legitimate government agency or not, you can hang up the call, and call the real agency. Let them know you received a call asking for your information, and you want to be sure it wasn’t a scam call. The agency will be able to tell you if you are actually in trouble with them or not.

Received call asking if I was calling about order ending # 1890? Spoke answer NO. Asked if I was calling from landlines or cell? I answered. Cell. Automated voice what I needed help with, I said returning your call. Automated voice said transferring to customer service. All I got was an open line with multiple voices in the background. No one every picked up. The I call center listed as scam call, I hung up. Blocked.

This is a legitimate call from FedEx. In my case, I had a package which required a signature. FedEx called me the day before from 800-463-3339 and left a recording with instructions. This is not a spam or a scam call.

Call to "Gary" from Christie at FedEx compliments and complaints dept. She provided a case number and wanted to confirm if it was a FedEx Express or FedEx Ground driver who damaged my vehicle. Was asked to call this 800 number back. #1 - there is no "Gary" here and #2 - My vehicle has not been damaged. She had a very strong accent which could have been classified as "New Delhi" so this is probably one of the scams.

called by this number, says package needed signature, no show next day as planned. called the number back the automated asked for street number. it wouldn't take it so i'm passed to a female w/ Indian accent who asked for the confirmation that the last four of the tracking number matched. Yes. then she asked for my name and address at which point i said you called me about this delivery you should have my info in front of you since you can tell me the last 4 digits. she cannot proceed unless i give the name and address. yeah, sure i will...
