A 9.50/hr debt collection agent called. They called me and I have a similar name to the one of the person they are looking for, but they have the wrong person with similar name.
Naturally, I was very angry: dinner time and my number is a private number. I asked to speak with their manager, who happened to be a SHELDON. Their website http://www.cbegroup.com states to be treated ethically with respect and he is a cocky individual. When I learned he was not the manager, I complained that I do not talk with subordinates and that I must speak with his manager. Then he gave me their manager's name, CODY ENGEL. Know your rights:
If they call you, you are under NO obligation to VOLUNTEER information.
Furthermore, you CAN request they FAX you information to verify who they are.
If they do not, you can tell them you will file your FIRST complaint.
Call back the number that called you. If they still have you in their computer system, they did NOT remove your number. This can constitute a complaint and later a fine you can collect from.
Call 515-226-0218 and Chrissy Peterson will answer the call.

Explain that their other office has not removed your number from their records, and that by speaking to her, this is the second complaint.
Wendy Harris or Kim Patrick are the higher ups in this company.

Get smart in dealing with these debt collectors. Know your rights. NEVER ADMIT ANYTHING OVER THE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1. When they first call they must send you a written notice within 5 days of what debt they are trying to collect.
2. If you receive the letter, immediately (you have 30 days) write (send letter certified) and do 2 things--ask for validation of the debt and tell them to stop calling--they MUST stop calling or it is a suable harassment offense.
3. Remember-if you send ANY money to the debt collector you have admitted that you owe the money to the debt collector and reset the clock on the Statue of Limitations.

Calls incessantly. Scumbags.

They have called over 30 times as of to day and even called on Sundays. They stsrted almost a month ago

Not sure who it is. They never leave a message. Searching the area code shows IOWA.
