I keep getting these calls from this or other numbers from the Washington DC area. Nobody ever leaves a msg! I will call block them, and 3-4 wks later I get another call from DC but different number. Again...NO MSG!!! NO ID!!! I tried to call back and once got hung up on. Second time I got busy signal. Most def a scam. Do NOT answer. If this comment is being reported...Please investigate these people, because these days you never know what they're up to!!?
calls and no one is there. multiple calls daily
Ya, I just got one of these calls 2 minutes ago. It's 1:54 pst. 010914 Thursday. I went to the link about how to be put on the do not call list. http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0113-government-grant-scams
When I first answered the call, I didn't hear anybody. I paused, the I heard a young make say, "hello, hello"? Then a frustrated tone in his voice, then a hang up sound. I Googled this number: 202-621-5429. I immediately got on do not call list, and book marked this number titled scam call. I tried to call back to see if any body would answer but the phone line was busy. Imagine that? Very interesting. I did telemarketing for about four years, but I never did telemarketing like that! Here is how I deal with these kind of calls. I really really slow, "heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellooooooooooooooooooooo" over and over and over again and again, until they give up! It's hilarious to them say that things like, "never mind"! Have fun with that! Some people never grow up. Or are natural dirt bags? I wonder if they have ever been in prison. I think I will write a song about this! hehe....cheers!
doesn't leave messages. read online the caller talks about a grant from the US government that doesn't have to be paid back.
Received multiple calls from this number showin Washington DC. Person was showing himself as some official from US Government. and was asking personal information over call. Since I have heard about these calls earlier thru other channels so I immediately asked few question with a strong voice and then that guy started hesitating and cut the call.
Request you all, DO NOT address any such call and DO NOT share your personal details. US Govt staff always send formal notice and never approach individuals over phone. Along with that I also have seen examples where some fraud agencies calling individuals and asking for money showing themselves as USCIS/Border & Security staff. Kindly note that most of the time visa extension/related requests are made through your organization and applicant's contact number never shared with USCIS and if they have anything further to ask, they always route the same communication track through which the request was sent to USCIS department.
So ALL, please keep a note of this and stay away from such fake callers.
Thank you.
