Called yesterday to hard sell a two year renewal to The New Yorker because rate is going up. They did not want to take no for an answer three times. Flat out told me they work for The New Yorker in response to my direct question, but they are lying.
Called here, tried to convince us to renew magazine that had over a year left on subscription. Told them I would contact the Federal Trade Commission. And they keep calling back.
Well-spoken woman said she was calling for The New Yorker and that as a long-time subscriber I am benefiting from a particularly attractive rate for the next 2 years. I thanked her for letting me know, and she said I'd be getting a second call from her supervisor just to check that she'd been polite. Second call was a hard sell to resubscribe then and there at the "attractive rate", since my subscription was running out within the year. This didn't strike me as New Yorker behavior. I said I'd renew closer to expiration, and she said I'd lose the "attractive rate" if I waited. She couldn't tell me what my actual expiration date was, also suspicious... When I checked, my current subscription is good for another 2 1/2 years...
SCAM
After seeing the number on caller ID and letting it ring to see if they would leave a message. I listened to message, they left a message of their business hours. No hours for a Saturday, but this call was on a Saturday morning. I left a message to them to take me off their list.
Extremely rude. Called five times in a row after I hung up on them.
