They will also threaten you with collection; if not over the phone, in the mail!

Also, since I sent a cancellation notice to disconnect in 2009, and the utility (Nicor in my case) did not disconnect the service, why should I pay? This is January 2012. I don't EVER expect to pay you.

And no, I have never heard of a law that "requires" you to keep the gas on so that the house does not have frozen pipes. Wouldn't matter either - I had the water and electric turned off in 2009, too!
