Left message claiming to be about my wireless account
No, the above post is wrong. I too got this call when I was past due. I called back on their 800 number and the customer service person wasnt sure and thought they only used 800 numbers. But she sent me to their fraud department and they looked up the number. They said it was one of the numbers they use when calling about past due bills. So it was all on the level. But they said crooks can still spoof this number so it shows on caller ID when a crook calls. So its best to call back Sprint on the number on the bill when a payment is to be made. That way payment is sure to go to Sprint.
Claiming to be Sprint, but they are scamming/phishing.
A message left on my phone "from Sprint" saying there was an urgent need to speak to me about a financial issue. the number they left was 402-220-1561.
I called the number and an automated system asked my zip code, then said I have a past due balance of $43 some odd dollars. I called the number on my Sprint bill and they said it wasn't them, they will always leave a toll free 800 number. They also confirmed my balance was not past due, and the new bills have not gone out yet, so at the moment I owe nothing.
