got the call on a cell phone Dec 16 2:15 PM, never answered, but if I got it, why do people who call the number get a disconnection notice? Something wrong somewhere. Where do they get cell phone numbers from?

Yeah, it's a scam for sure.
I was in the university library when this called. It had an answering machine saying that I have won an vacation package as a preferred Air Canada customer. And then asks you to press 1 to accept. An Indian woman picks up and asks if I'm over 25. (I'm not) So then we hung up.

I"m guessing that the age limit was to make sure that you have money for them to scam.

A voice message said "you have won!", then a girl talked to me, but i hanged up the call.

I just got a call on my Fido (cell), I am in Montreal Quebec. Female voice asking me to press "1", I didn't say anything and it hung up. I tried to call back the number 403-709-8686 and an automated message said that number is disconnected or no longer in service...IGNORE THE CALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a call this morning (14 Dec 10) from this number. The recorded voice said that because I was a "preferred Air Canada customer" I was to be rewarded "50,000 points". I hung up.

Last time I traveled Air Canada was two years ago - and it was a short hop.

When I called the number back, I got the "This number has been disconnected" recording.
