After reading the comments here, I called the number and spoke with a guy who had an Indian accent claiming to be the IRS. Gave him a fake name and he "looked up" my account and indicated there was a problem with my 2014 taxes and I was going to be arrested for evading the government. Knowing it was a scam, I played along. The only way to avoid being arrested was to provide my credit card info. Told him I'd take my chances. He said an officer would be at my home in 45 minutes. The next day, I called back to "file a complaint" since no one showed up to arrest me. I've called back 30 times since just to tie up his line. He admitted about 10-20 people a day provide their CC info.
Same as above, but still going on in 2017.
Same note as the individuals noted below. A automated voice leaves a message saying "an enforcing action has been made in your name"
got the message today from John Smith at 510-936-6535
i refused to give any information to the person who answered
i asked who they were: "federal crime investigation department"
I've gotten a call from this number claiming that his name is Patrick and was working for the FBI. He never gave his last name. He claimed that ther was a complaint against me and that i had to return the call in minutes. The call is case senisitive and if i didnt return the call I will be prosicuted. I called back even though I knew it was scam. You can here others in the background reading the script.
