credit card debt scam
Let it ring, knowing it was telemarketing... Ontario Number... calling just around 3:20pm Ontario Time, as I was advised. Heads up here, saved me the headache... we are an the 'DO NOT CALL' list.
I got this call a few times now. It is routed out of Wisconsin I found out. Not impressed as I am on the Do Not Call list also. They always call the same time around 3:20
I am in BC Canada and whe this calls me it says they are calling feom Ontario. It's a recorded message and not a real person... I just hung up and now I don't answer when I see this number. Nonetheless, these calls are very annoying!!
I answered and heard a pre-recorded message about creditors and what can be done about it. I thought by the DNC Registry these calls are banned as long as my phone # is in the list.
If you are on the Do No Call List - then take the time and file a complaint. https://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/plt-cmp-eng Being rude to the person making the call isn't going to do any good - they were hired by the company to do a job - they are just doing their job and don't know whether or not your # is on the list - they are just given a list of #s to call - or it's automatically done through a dialing system.
If you make a formal complaint for every one of these types of calls (instead of just being rude to the person making the call) then the CRTC gets involved, fines the company and the company removes your # from their list - or you repeat the process over again till they get the message.
