I THINK INVESTMENT
They were looking for someone whom this phone # does not belong to. I've tried telling them this ("you have the wrong #) but they keep calling, often at odd hours
i reject caller from my cell phone and i do NOT get a message. my voice mail
has SIT tones and a message for cap one that this is a cell phone with a new
owner AND i do not have access to past number owners. plus i have NEVER
given this number out.
i think, according to the FDCPA, it is illegal for debt collectors to call
cell phones as it makes the amount owed higher having to spend cell phone $.
basically it is making the debt more without going through proper legal
channels, which is a no no.
Before paying old debts, check here to see if the statute of limitations has
expired (i.e., one state is 3 years for open accounts(credit cards) or last
charge for goods/services rendered, 5 years for closed accounts, 10 years
for judgements (renewable to 20 years)). BE AWARE if you make any payment or
agree to start paying again the clock starts over from 0.
btw: i am NOT a lawyer. you should check with a lawyer before making any decisions.
p.s. the do not call list does NOT pertain to collectors, charities, and
political calls. i wish it was a DO NOT CALL PERIOD list. and tell callers
to "put you on their do not call list". i think legally they have to do it.
asking to be taken off a call list that doesnt exist will not work.
Numerous calls, hang ups.
