This number belongs to an entity claiming to be EMPOWER (an energy supplier). When I received the call, the guy had a thick Indian accent, the feel of the call was shady (sounded like a home office in the background), and they claimed to be affiliated with Con Edison. They called before and somehow tricked my mom into telling them the account number, and when she told them to wait until I came back, they became very aggressive/persistent calling back a dozen times. I called Con Edison and told them to block any attempts to switch my energy supplier.

Folks: If they call and do not seem to know who you are, they are up to no good. Legitimate companies with whom you have an existing business relationship do not need to be this aggressive; you are already their customer!

Got same call .. I located them. They are located in Jamaica. Scam, Phishing. Beware
ask them how the weather today in Jamaica. They'll get flustered.

I told "Scott Mathews" of "Mpower Energy" I was not the Con Ed billholder he was looking for. he insisted it would be OK if I were to "do him a favor" get the bill and provide personal info contained within so that he could "validate the account" and save us money. He never asked my name.But then that would be useless attached to to personal info he was digging for. Collection Agency? Outright Scam? Real Deal?, Eitherway insisting it's OK to dig through some else's personal effects to provide a stranger personal info is always despicable

Tried to get me to give them credit card information over the phone regarding a bill they said was never paid (which it was)
