Yall are dumb. Every hospital needs qualified people to help yall n make sure you have a way to pay for your visit.
Hospitals do not contract ppl directly because guess what its costs them $$. So they contract little call centers and put all of that responsibility on em...shit ton of patients smh underpaid overworked and dealing with ignorant ppl that cant understand how things work now a days.

Called while I was out. My elderly mother answered the phone. I called them back. They know my address and etc. because they either did already or my mother told them. They told me that they called because I did not have medical insurance. I do have medical insurance and told them so. I did not give them anymore info then they already had, my address and insurance company name. Their number is not listed on the Hospital website in any form.

I received a call from NCO FNC SYS that was a recording with a reference number regarding patient advocacy services for my spouse. I called the number 800-249-2645 and spoke with Priscilla who said they had called on behalf of the hospital where my wife had just been seen. I asked her why they were calling and she would not discuss it me as my wife was the patient. I asked what their role or function was and she said it was to help patients. I asked if they function was to help patients get governmental assistance, i.e., Medicaid, and she said yes. I informed her that we had insurance and that the hospital was aware of this. She said they had a contract with the hospital and I should call them. I told her that as far as i was concerned their organization was nothing more than a telemarketing outfit and they should not call my home again as we are on a do not call list.

We received a similar call from NCO - the only reason I know it was NCO is because I google any number that I do not recognize before responding..
They left a message saying they were calling on behalf of the Hospital **** and would like to offer a Free Service if I call them at a different number ****** and use reference # xxxx - dirty tricks from slimy collectors - but he did specifically state they were calling on behalf of the hospital by name and they are offering a free service - isn't that illegal ? they call every day and I am getting sick of it !

Yeah. No doubt one of the big function of EPALS is as a collection agency. Pretty clever disguise if you ask me. Underhanded and cheap too. Don't bother calling them unless you need to blow off some steam at someone. They speak mexican too. lol

Called Hackensack Hospital billing again after I noticed that the letter from EPALS had my account # on it. The CSR that I spoke to this time said it was an HUMC IT computer glitch that inadvertently had these letters sent and to disregard so I just wanted to update my previous statement.

Received a letter from EPALS (Eligibility Patient Advocacy Liaisons) that stated HUMC contacted them to assist in obtaining governmental assistance toward my medical expenses. Called Hackensack Hospital and they told me that EPALS was a SCAM as quite a few other patients also received the same letter and that HUMC never contacted them and to just throw out EPALS' letter. So please BEWARE of calls or letters from EPALS.

I am scheduled for several tests for a serious medical problem over the next few weeks. I got a message today from "Eligibility Patient Access Liasons" 1-800-249-2645. I panicked thinking that my insurance was denying coverage so I called them back right away, assuming they were somehow connected to the hospital. Here, it was the collection agency NCO Financial Systems duping me into calling them back over a $75.00 bill! I can't pay all of my co-pays because my monthly medical premium with Aetna is so huge it takes up 45% of my monthly income. In return, my coverage is crappy and doesn't pay S***! I am already terrified and stressed out by the poor state of my health and NCO has no right to exacerbate my anxiety by tricking me into calling them. I told they guy to F*** off and hung up.

I've been getting this message also several times a month. Only part of the message is ever recorded. "...eligibility patient advocacy liaisons at 1-800-249-2645. Our office hours or Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm Central Standard Time. Again that number is 1-800-249-2645...".
