I received a call from 800-327-2177 regarding a charge that had just been attempted on my AMEX card. It was an automated call. I do not react well to automated calls so I hung up and called the number on the back of my card. The automated call was legitimately AMEX checking on a charge. So the number is associated with AMEX, however I told them that if I get one again I will do the same thing, hang up and call the number on the back of my card. You just never can be sure about hackers etc.

if one was to call 800-327-2177, you'll get American express. Duh.,

According to BING.com this is the sales dept for American Express. They have called me several times over the last few days but I ignore all onsolicited sales calls.
