I received call from this number three times in a row at 12AM, crazy!!
800/396-9402 belongs to Easylink Services (Easylink is the correct spelling). http://www.easylink.com.
Easylink is a fax services provider for many major companies around the world. If you are getting fax calls to your voice number, please contact Easylink at 800/209-6245 (options 1, 1). Provide your number called and the time of the call to the representative who answers the call. They will block your number on their network and inform their customer (the sender/originator of the fax) to remove your number from their faxing database. Alternatively, you can send an email message to removalrequest@easylink.com. Include your number called / time of latest call in your message.
In most instances these fax calls are a result of the sender mis-keying in the correct fax destination number (not much different from a voice call where someone dials our voice numbers by mistake). Repeated calls are a result of Easylink's auto-redial capability (not unlike someone sending a fax manually and encountering a busy signal, etc.). The sender is likely unaware that they mis-keyed in the number and is usually grateful when informed of this.
For the record, "Do not call" lists apply only to voice calls, not fax calls. However, FCC regulations stipulate that junk fax senders must include "opt-out" information on their unsolicited faxes.
