What is a Government Scam Call?

Robocalls that consist of a caller trying to pose as any type of government agency is referred to as a "government scam" call. During these calls, a person will try to convince you that they are an employee of a government agency and that you owe them money or are wanted for arrest. They make these calls in hopes that their victims will wire them money out of the fear of being arrested. You should know, that no government agency will call you and ask you to wire them money over the phone. The most common form of a government scam is the caller pretending to be an IRS employee, and they will tell you that you must send them money to their bank account in order to not be arrested. Other forms of these calls are people pretending to be a part of the Social Security Administration, the FBI, a local police department, or Medicare. These calls can be very convincing as they will know your name, address, and social security number, but you should not trust them. If you are unsure if you are speaking to a government agency or not, you can call the real agency to confirm that it was not them calling you.

Called me and I did not answer. I have caller ID and they were not on my list. We ignore most of the 800, 605 and a handful of others. They are scams or trying to get you for something. I do not own anything to anybody, so this one cas put it where the sun does not shine.

Called about 5mins ago, but when I answered they hung up. If they ARE a collections agency shouldn't they actually stay on the line to COLLECT? I mean I didn't get a hello, is .......there, nothing just me saying hello repeatedly and then click. Disconnected!

FYI This is a collection agency that has been in business 42+ years. They have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. They're not just calling for no reason! They have been hired to do so! I have no affiliation with them, I just know from personal experience that this company is legit and I have recently been getting calls from them but it's because I owe, I owe so off to work I go!! :)

They called before 9 this morning but no-one was there. Called back this afternoon from my google voice # (that they don't have) and as soon as I said you called before 9 and that's illegal, They hung up on ME. I called immediately back and was disconnected immediately. THEN I called from my real number..they knew who I was AND my address. Told them again and girl said it's allowed before 8 and would give me to a supervisor...THEY HUNG UP AGAIN....luv having fun..

They called, asked for me then asked to verify my address. I said, "I DON'T KNOW WHO U ARE SO I WILL NOT PROVIDE THAT INFORMATION TO YOU! She then told me to have a great day and hung up. Why would I give you my information without u wanting to give me yours.

Caller ID said ASI. They have been calling over and over. I answer and no one is ever there. Today I answered and a man said something very quickly and then asked for my address. I told him I would not provide my address without knowing who I am speaking to. He abruptly said then this matter is unresolved and hung up on me. I will not provide my address or any personal information to a stranger who will not identify who he is and the purpose of his call. Beware if you get the same call.
