I'm not sure how to categorize the call. I never answered and didn't receive a voicemail after. Apparently there's a lot of people who have called it a spoofing and a scam.

For Goodness’ Sakes people- This *IS* BofA’s number. You can call THEM no problem, but if it shows up on your caller ID (or in a text) it could be spoofed… Or someone impersonating you got to the point where the bank needs you to verify your identity. If you didn’t ask for a verification code to be sent, just ignore it!

SCAM....SCAM....SCAM.....Recording offered a auth code for a purchase but did not give an amount. I immediately called Bank of America and reported it. The caller ID indicated Bank of America with a phone # of 1-800-933-6262. THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM BUT CALL YOUR BANK TO BE SAFE.

IT IS A LEGIT NUMBER FOR BANK OF AMERICA, WHEN YOU CALL THEM ABOUT YOUR ACCOUNT, THAT IS HOW THEY VERIFY YOUR IDENTITY. BUT IF YOU DID NOT CALL THEM, THEN IT MEANS SOMEBODY ELSE TRIED TO CALL THEM.

This number showed up in an email from BOA about a security issue for a credit card I haven't used in years. I called a different number from their website to be safe and learned it was an actual issue with my card. If you do go to the BOA site and go to Contact US, then General Support, it does list this number as the number to call.

It's a legit number. If you go to BofA, click on the contact us link. It's listed as online customer service.

This is a legitimate phone number belonging to Bank of America and is a supplemental phone number to the customer support number that is listed on the back of your Bank of America credit card. It is a necessary support number don't blacklist it.

I received a text today supposedly from my bank giving me an auth number to be used in the next 10 minutes. If I did not request this auth code, I was to call customer service 1-800-933-6262 for assistance (which I did not do). Instead forwarded text to abuse@bank and also reported the incident on private msg to my bank.
