I just received a call from this lovely individual that I do believe was named "Edward." After being difficult as hell to understand, this schmuck had me look for a specific file on my task manager. I knew what he was looking for, but told him I couldn't see the file he was asking for to which he replied that I had "accidentally deleted it from my computer." The file he was looking for is a system file that, if removed in any way, would fry the operating system. I kindly hung up on him.

I received a phone call and I couldn't understand a word he was saying. It sounded like he was in a tunnel. I just said "I can't understand a word you're saying. Goodbye." I shopped at Target during the breech.

I got the same call. He asked if now was a good time to talk. I told him "yes". He told me that "the computer you are on was hacked." I hung up.

I received the same call. Out of curiosity did you shop at Target during the security breech? I did a few times. I thought the two might be related. Especially after learning today personal information such as address and phone numbers were stolen along with bank info.

I got the same call. He asked if now was a good time to talk. I told him "no". That took him aback, and then he asked "when would be good?" I asked him what it was pertaining to and he told me that "the computer you are on was hacked." I told him "thank you, I'm hanging up now."

"Edward" claimed to be working with Microsoft. I could only understand every few words he said; however, from what I could gather, he was apparently calling from the "Anti-hacking Software Department Corporation." He was calling, not to sell me anything, but to warn me that my computer was in great danger from hackers! When pushed about who he was and what he was up to, and what kind of company is named "Anti-hacking Software Department Corporation," the only answers he could give were that my computer is in grave danger and I need his help! Well, needless to say, I did not trust "Edward" to solve my computer problems. I think I will rely on my firewall and someone who is actually calling me from the United States of America! Though the number he gave is out of Glendale, CA, the number that actually appeared on my phone was an international number that, best I can tell, is coming somewhere from the South Pacific. Please do not get scammed by these low-lifes!

I just received a call from the same number. I didn't understand his name or the name of the "company" he was calling from, but he said my Sybase account had an infected file that would cause a lot of damage. Really? I asked if he would like my IP address, social security number, birthdate, name and address. He got pretty excited! Of course I gave him none of that and hung up. US companies who put their IT departments overseas open themselves up to this kind of social engineering, because it is not too unreasonable for someone to think we would receive calls like that from people in other countries.
