Call fielded by my answering mach. Caller was still online waiting for msg-completion, and stayed on 'til machine timeout. I watched but did not pick up handset.
I called my attorney general's office. They confirmed that any number (a/c) 000-xxxx is a scam front number for another company. This number has an "auto-dialer" then when you press 1 or 9, the call is transferred to an agency that wants to help you lower your credit card bills. Regardless, I would NEVER and advise others to NEVER give any information on these types of calls.
Presently, there is no way to trace them but I was told that most come out of Florida.
I received a phone call from this number just now. It's a recording then you press 9 to get a live person. I asked why they were calling me, then they hung up. I don't give out information to such inquiries. The purpose of the call was from "card services" to give a lower rate of 6.9%.
When I tried to call back, I received a recording stating that there were not enough digits in the phone number (I hit redial).
Don't fall for this scam!
Recieved this call on my phone on 28 Feb 2011. When trying to call back, a default message comes on indicating the call cannot be completed. When you try and block the call for example Qwest Communications Block service the process will not allow you to complete the block.
Caller is a scam company trying to get credit card info. Do not respond.
