I fell for it. Voice mail claimed from BofA, needed to correct/confirm mailing address, call back 866-459-5275 and enter code 609891. Told that they needed to confirm mailing address, and some mail had been returned as undeliverable. I gave them my address and last for SS digits. Assume this wasn't enough to get in trouble, was it?
Call from 800-269-0102
said in good English that it was boa and there's been a change in my acct. status and to call
866-459-5275 using customer code 57xx158
They almost had me. I gave them last four digit numbers of SS#. These scumbags!
Bank America
Incomming phone calls can be from anyone. This appears to be a phishing call.
We also received an automated call that claimed to be from Bank of America. It instructed us to call 866-459-5275 and enter a six digit personal code.
The end of the message said "If you are not a customer of Bank of America, and believe you've received this message in error, please call 877-430-3412"
I went to my online account, and it was all in order. No messages. My mortgage and credit cards were just fine.
It's unfortunate that some people return these calls. This phisher, will no doubt ask the return caller to verify their personal information - and the lamb will walk right into the slaughtethouse.
