My mum got a message on her answering machine today requesting that she call the HSBC Something and Fraud Department at 1-888-289-3585, during certain hours in the Central Time Zone, regarding suspicious activity on her account. I came here to check the number out and told her that while it appeared to be legit, if I were her, I'd 'phone the card issuer using the number on the back of the card. She did that, and the fellow on the line told her that that was not a known number; further, that there had been _no_ activity on her account.

My advice would be to 'phone your card issuer using the number on the back of the card.

Left message about suspicious activity on credit card account and that a hold may have been placed on account.
