This is a legit Wells Fargo number. It's their fraud protection line notifying you of unusual account activity. Please check your account to unauthorized charges. Instead of returning the call, I checked my account online and found my Platinum card was temporarily restricted due to unusual activity and someone had used use my credit card number to make purchases in a different state. I called Wells Fargo (1-800-642-4720) and the rep said there were several other changes that were attempted that they did not allow to go through and that they were manual entries, meaning they weren't using my physical card, just the card number. He connected me with their Fraud Protection department. They are crediting my account back the unauthorized charges and issuing me a new card. I have this as an emergency card so I rarely use, rarely check the activity. So grateful Wells Fargo caught this, declined the other transactions, froze my account and contacted me.

Called me too. I checked with Wells and they said there was nothing wrong. Will call the FBI on them.

I gave no information and called the number on the back of my card. They had blocked a charge of $1,900 on my card that was not mine and cancelled my card, so for me this had been a legitimate number. I still would call the number on the card just to be sure it was Wells Fargo.

Mumbly call sounded fraudulent. So I called Wells Fargo to verify and the above number is not theirs.

When I questioned why the caller would ask for my number (which he had already called) to verify the account, he quickly disconnected.

This a legit 3RD party that Wells Fargo uses for their credit card fraud prevention. Others are either misinformed or are not posting correct information here. I checked this number out and have verified its origin by calling 800-723-5533 which is the Wells Fargo Fraud Departments public phone listing. The computer generated fraud alert from 888-671-2468 uses a verification process - then will connect with a live agent. Believe me, I checked out everything several times by phone calls to Wells Fargo and by looking at my own credit card fraud charges (timelines) and verified that the 888-671-2468 number is totally legit. If for some reason you are still unsure or skeptical just call the number on the back of your credit card if you get an alert from 888-671-2468.

To summarize: 888-671-2468 is a WELLS FARGO (third party) FRAUD DETECTION SERVICE that makes initial automated contact. This phone number has been in existance for over (5) years now!

This number calls me late at night and starting 8am in the morning. Also, they hang up when I answer. If this is really Wells Fargo, I will be changing banks. Whoever is saying this is a real number could be part of the fraud. Now I have to investigate call blocking.

I got a v-message to call them back regarding Wells Fargo account, as I really have a WF account I called back. There was only an automated system which hung up on me before I got to a live operator, and it repeated several times. Do not give your info to these people.
