Says it's from prison system somewhere? I don't know anyone in jail. Google search says this number is a prison phone scam where they try to get control of your phone using the *72 code.

this number called me. it was someone I know whos in prison. he mentioned specific info that nobody would know about me and his name. this is legit. if youre getting calls from this number and don't know anyone in jail, they probably have the wrong number. so block it.

They just keep calling and calling everday

How do u know where in texas that number is from. I do know its from a prison or jail bc its my boyfriends ex girlfriend and he is at work when that number calls but he won't tell me where she is locked up at..she writes him to his moms house and he thinks I don't know and I'm trying to find out where the hell she is. He says arizon but I've googled it and called it and its in texas

I've read that its a legit thing that inmates use to make calls? But I don't know anyone in any prison and the only people that have my phone number are my family so...

When answered, a recorded message asks me if I want to accept the call, then I hang up. All it said on caller ID was Texas.

I received this call on my cell phone today. Answered and recording said it was a collect call, I was going to hang up and the call was dropped. First time I really appreciated having a dropped call.

Got this called 6 times yesterday, and twice today, have blocked the number the caller said this is your Mother. My mom was sitting in my living room.

If it's not a scam why don't they leave their name..... DUH.

So many commenters here complaining about calls from this number. Its from a company that contracts with different cities in the US to handle the phone systems at correctional facilities. Yes that means its from a jail or prison. Answer the damn phone because its probably someone that knows you that actually might need your help or support. But instead you come here to complain by logging in or creating an account and then go to all the steps of posting a message here just to complain.

You never know when the same thing might just happen to you. Then who would you call?

A friend of mine is stuck for a few months in prison in Idaho, and uses this number to get me to call her back. The inmate can make a free call for one minute, then the automated system kicks in to give you options for paying for longer calls. It's a legit third-party system authorized by the penal institution, and I have put credit on to allow longer calls. Quite expensive at about $8 initial each call and several dollars a minute.

I just got 5 or 6 calls in a row from this number. It says it was from the Marion County Jail, I denied the call and it asked for a four digit pin to not get calls from this number again. I think it is a scam trying to annoy people and get them to put in their pin number they use for other things, like a credit/debit card. I think it is a phishing scam. The calls have stopped when I put in a fake pin number.
