Claims to be calling from Microsoft about important alarms my computer is sending. Middle Eastern accent -could barely speak English. Told him he had the wrong number and hung up. Tried calling the number right back but not a valid number - so the number is being spoofed to the caller ID.

Says either you have won money, but need to put up $200 processing fee, or that you have a virus on your Windows computer. Scam either way.

The man who phoned me asked if I was "Paul ...". I told him 'I wasn't Paul, Paul didn't live here and never had'. ( I know how these calls go; they ask for someone as a "foot in the door" and switch the pitch to whoever answered the phone) The guy had an apparent Indian accent and it sounded like he was in a busy office with a number of peers on the lines there. He told me they had detected some abnormal computer readings from my (Microtek?) and were concerned. I believe he indicated he could help with that but I got quite angry at some clown calling me in my own home to make a transparently fraudulent attempt to lift some money off me so I (unfortunately) cut him off saying, "I don't even use that system!" and, "I don't know what you're up to but it isn't any good!" He assured me he was just trying to help. I think I told him to Get Lost and he then hung up. I should not have divulged any information and played along with him to gather information.

The prerecorded marketing message intimated that they represented my credit card and that I could get a better interest rate on it by speaking with a representative.

Nearly all of the calls mention "new government programs".

The call began with an urgent warning that my home computer is full of viruses and that my computer was calling this company for support. They claimed that as a feature in the windows operating system, my computer automatically notified them of a problem. As subsidiaries of Microsoft, they were calling to clean my machine of its viruses. As long as I can follow their key input commands, they would show that my machine is full of viruses and fix my computer for me. This fix, would be to download a program from the internet at their behest.

He could barely speak english and was very hyper. he told me that my computer was sending out a lot of virus on different servers and I needed to upgrade my software right now. I asked him what server and he kept asking me if I could hear him so I hung up figuring it was a scam.

He wanted to "help" me get malware off my computer.

Got a call from "(unintelligible) Technical Support" and was told that the computer we are using is "causing errors and reporting it to technical support". I kept asking him for specifics, and then pressed him to tell me what version of Windows was reporting the problem? He said "XP or Vista". I told him "impossible - all the computer I have run Linux. Ubuntu to be specific". He said that Linux was only for "Big Companies". He hung up when I told him that "I haven't paid for a version of Windows since 1995... POWER TO THE PEOPLE, MAN!"

Next time I will be the most sincere, wanting to do whatever they want me to do, most technically inept person they've *ever* talked to.

Caller wanted to review my Verizon cell service to "help me" make sure I'm getting the best deal. This was not a call from Verizon! I said I was satisfied with my service and asked not be contacted again. Caller informed that in order to put me on his "do not call" list, he needed to read me a further disclaimer and explain a few more things to me. I hung up. I get at least one call per day from this number, usually I do not answer and no message is ever left. Today I accidentally answered the call as I was expecting an important phone call from the same area code.
