This call came to my cell phone, I did not the number and with the caller id saying "NOT SAFE NUMBER", I let it go to voicemail.
This cell number was spoofed (stolen) from a 67yr old man living in Lorain, Ohio. He likely doesn't know his number has been spoofed. The 216-973 exchange is with the Verizon service area of Greater Cleveland, Ohio.
When it went to voicemail the call was the Faux Disney Scam running rampant in calls in the Cleveland area.
The message left was a bumbling female robo voice who giggles and says "she" is Emily. She says she is calling because you have stayed at "their" resort and she has a deal for you. This is NOT Disney! Disney is in the Cleveland area and they would not steal someone's phone number to call you.
After the recorded spiel, a reportedly nasty male comes on the line. He has been reported ti drop F-bombs. He will talk you into this and say he needs your credit or debit card to take care if a small processing fee for this resort offer. What happens is if he gets the card number... your credit card will max out or your debit card drains your bank account. After which these criminals have your personal identity and your financial information.
This scam has been reported upon in the Cleveland news media and people are falling for it. Don't let yourself fall victim.
There seems to be blocks of numbers that come up "MOT SAFE NUMBER". I have not figured out why some calls come up this way and others the phone numbers with the number & Faux Disney. They are of the same scam with "Emily" and the same spiel.
