I received a call from a person calling himself "Ryan Foster" with Chassner Law-firm. I am an engineer with Dell and every voice-mail gets recorded as a file I can save. Several weeks ago I received another scam call like this and I answered it.

Basically they are trying to get your bank account number (and authorization) as you went to a site that looked like a payday loan site, but was actually selling your information (including your social security number and/or bank account number). Theses people use VOIP phone jumping to try and hide from authorities. They tell you they will make a deal and are suing against your social security number for $5000 due to an unpaid debt (sometimes they mention a payday loan). When I answered the call about a month ago, I told the person on the other end of the line that he was breaking the law, that I have his phone number traces (caller ID and number to call back did not match; not even area code) and I am going to press charges for harassment.

So now a month later it happens again. Also, my information got out enough that there have been 2 unauthorized charges for memberships in a credit online store, and a VOIP service from my checking account. I could not reach the VOIP service, but I went to my bank and got a hold of the credit card online store. They had charged me $150, and with some stern talking to them, they refunded the money.

My advice: Change bank account numbers and watch your statement carefully. There is no debtors prison in the USA. A marshal cannot come to your house and arrest you for an unpaid loan of any type. I feel sorry for people who fall for the "make a deal" with them as they will probably suck your bank account dry. They are walking a tight line between a gray area in the law. If they have a service to offer, they take the money out of your account. If you call them back and threaten them, they put it back. It is always under $500 though when they do this.

Same as complaints above, however he used name of John Knox. Called my work and cell #. I work for an attorney and deal in collections. The things they say on the message are not legal. He told me or my attonrey to call them re a legal matter and if i don't, basically good luck and some other nasty things which are illegal in collecting a debt. BTW, I owe no money to anyone. My recommendation is not to call them back if you should get a call from them.

THAT-S WHEN I GOT LIFELOCK TO PROTECT MY IDENTITY. THEY SENT ME A CREDIT RPORT FREE OF CHARGE AND THERE'S NOTHING ON IT FROM THESE PEOPLE. LIFELOCK NUMBER IS 18009401255. I PRAY TO GOD THAT THEY WILL STOP CALLING MY PHONE AND MY JOB VERY SOON!

Same story...the guy said his name was officer Jack Morris. This has to be a complete scam because having worked in the collections industry, I know they cannot use threats.

He said there were lawsuits against my social sec. no. and he repeated the last 4 digits! He spoke in a heavy Indian/Pakistani/Turkish accent saying his name was Officer Jack Morris and I must return the call the second I received it.
