Claimed to be a representative from BCBS, but a Canadian calling area. When I pressed to confirm which BCBS (as I currently have a BCBS plan and am a former employee of another BCBS plan), she continued to say BCBS. When I refused to confirm any information, she indicated NJ. When I said I was not a client and uninterested, she proceeded to name additional states (which some don’t even have BCBS carriers) before I hung up. Having been a BCBS employee for 10 years, very few would ever outsource work to a company that would not be issued a valid BCBS in-state phone number and none would ever pressure members in this manner. Be careful with what you confirm as HIPPA laws are very strict in terms of what can be shared and how to confirm caller identities from a healthcare perspective. This is a total scam.
Received call from this number. Caller was female, heavy Indian accent. Said she was calling with Blue Cross/Blue Shield United Healthcare (what a mix!) and needed to confirm my personal information for their records. I yelled "SCAMMER!" and hung up. Idiot. Number is now blocked.
Said he was from Blue Cross .... wanted personal info to update his records ..... I hung up ... called Blue Cross...... definetly a scam ... just looking to get my personal info
Called on 2/2/18. I was driving so I didn't notice where the call was from (Ontario) heavy Indian accent. Said he was from anthem, which I had until December when I cancelled it. I did t think too much of it when he said he was calling from there since I'm in the middle of a dispute with them and he even mentioned Husky care which I had had. He read off my name, number and address and it matched, then he started asking about my family's primary care doctor and he got agitated and didn't believe me when I did I didnt have one! So that put up a red flag, he then started asking about the rest of the family on my plan and I informed it it was only me there was never anyone else! He got snippy and said have a good day, I hung up. I called the number back and it just kept ringing. So that's nice....
