The caller was offering a special deal on The Times-Reporter (local newspaper) for a seven day a week subscription. I received a similar call a couple of months ago. I tried to subscribe then but was told I couldn't because I already had a subscription for weekend service. I asked the caller if this was still their policy. He said yes. Since I am on the do-not-call list, there was no reason they should be calling me even if I am a current customer. I asked the caller if he worked for The Times-Reporter or a third party and he hung up without answering. I looked up the newspapers' number and the number on caller-id did not match so I do not know if the call was authorized by the newspaper or if it was a scam.
