Caller said there was a problem with my windows operating system. I told that I thought this was a spam call and not to call again. He said he would call again and again. I dialed *69 to get the callers number, which is #425-668-9652.

The caller wanted me to start my PC so he could help me address the thousands of error messages which, he asserted, I have been receiving on the PC. I expect that he wanted to get me to download a program that he would have offered had I done as instructed, which I did not.

He said he was calling about my windows program on my computer and it had down-loaded a virus and I was to put my computer on and he would give me further instruction. He spoke very poor English and couldn't answer my questions as to who his company was. I asked him for his number and he gave me the second one listed below and said his name was Daniel, if I understood him correctly. The number listed on my phones caller ID is the first number listed below and "Washington" was in the name line. I then hung up on him.

Betty received a call on Monday from a man with an ‘Indian’ accent. He claimed to be with the technical support for Windows. He was calling to tell her that her computer had a problem; that there were worms and viruses on her computer. She gave him remote access to her computer. He wanted to sell her a protection service for $149. She informed him that she changed her mind and hung up. She immediately turned off the computer and when she turned it back on, she had 5 new icons. CTR344
