I have had my new Verizon land line for less than one day. In that time, as no one knows my number yet, I have received about 8 calls: 4 from Verizon marketing, and 4 from the Government Grant Department.
The man with the heavy accent (Nigeria?) used MY NAME.

Apparently they have access to the newly assigned phone data, or Verizon straight up sells its its new number list to scammers.

This man called me. I never pick up to these calls, but I was in the middle of a tragic event so I was angry at the constant harassing phone calls. I questioned why he kept calling. He kept interrupting and laughing. I told him my dog was dying which made him laugh harder. I used some unsavory words and he told me I was not a lady and I shouldn't use those words. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he refused, giggling the whole time saying no because I would curse at his supervisor as well. I kept him on the line while I looked up the number and saw it was from Florida. He refused to give me his name because he said "you scare me and you would find me." The whole time he told me I was not a lady and he kept laughing at my situation. I am disgusted.

Called me a total of 6 times within the last hour! When I answer it rings to them as if I am making the call, and some guy who barely speaks English starts talking so fast I can't understand a word he says. When I say to remove me from the list I get hung up on-

Thank you to all that posted on this number. The only message they leave for me is heavy breathing and they will not answer any of the 20-30 calls (so far) I just made back to them at the same number shown on caller ID. Too bad, now that they woke me up from my nap I want to play. It must be bull$spit, otherwise they'd leave a message I can understand or answer their own phones. I will provide updates here if I can get them to play and identify them further.

I keep recieving calls for a person I do not know from this number first it was Max then Michelle they are calling for. and when I say no they just hang up! I am starting to get pissed because they keep calling and hanging up. It started at 11 am and they have called me 8 times. They finally talked to me and told me that I have been approved for a government grant and would I like to give them a little infromation about me so I can recieve the so called "government grant" I told them I would like to hear more about it, just so I could see how far this scam would go and they just hung up on me. I think it is all B.S. and would not give them any information if I were you.

As soon as you answer the call will the reversed and you will be the one now calling them. It will appear that you initiated the call, when in actuality they called you. This is technology scam.

The person making the call knew the first name of the person it belonged to even though the bill/account is not in their name. They spoke heavily accented English and left a message. If you answer, be rude-
