I got a call from this number and didn't recognize area code so googled it!

I missed a call from 6466686744. I called it back from blocked number to receive a recording presented as "Welcome to Verizon Wireless National Payment Center" at which point youre directed to enter a prompt and your telephone number. This call seems suspicious for multiple reasons. First, my payments are current and next bill is not yet due. Next, the number on my caller ID is listed as the number rather than VZW or any specific business. Next, when I look up the number online its listed as a wireless number, but any legitimate commercial business would call from offices where there are landlines and to which the caller ID would indicate the name of the business, and even the dept. The fact that someone else has this number listed in regard to a free cruise, further points that the call is an attempt to scam, obtain private info via illicit means. Be careful. If you think you may be due on a bill, look up your account info/statements, call the direct number to headquarters and billing for the company and ask them if the caller and number are legitimate and if you have any payment due. These scammers are getting more and more savvy. You must keep your eyes open and err on the side of caution, always. They're hoping to get you when you're incredibly busy and may make a careless mistake. Report any suspicious activities online so that others are made aware and if you have the chance, also report it to the CS dept of the actual company to which you have a verifiable number to the dept that's listed online and through your contact info for the company provided throuigh legitimate billing and their website.
