Fake calls from obviously computer generated voice claiming to be "Chase"...not "Chase Bank". Claims to be calling regarding my credit card for my Mariott account. Funny, I also got a text message from a random 5 digit number earlier in the week with something similar about a fraudulent charge at a candy store.

I don't bank with Chase, so nice try.

If you received a call from this number, it could be fake, however, this is Chase's REAL Fraud Department Number. If you received the call, a scammer could be spoofing it -- so to be safe, hang up and call the main Chase phone number listed on their website (or the back of your card).

Chase verified that this is their Fraud Department's number on their verified Twitter account: https://twitter.com/ChaseSupport/status/571762011199172609

I received a fraud notification email, which brought me to activityconfirmation.chase.com (legit site) and requested I call this number. I did and gave them my information to close the account and request a new card. I got paranoid after I hung up and called the main Chase phone number and they confirmed that the number I called was correct and that my account had been closed from the call I previously made.

I did the same. The fraud number was different from the customer service number on the back of my card. I called the fraud number first and gave them information. They said they were closing my card and sending another. I called the customer service number on the back of the card and verified that they number was indeed their fraud department. There was a fraudulent transaction in excess of $2000 on my account that they caught. The phone number is legit, but always better to verify

The call I received was from 800-935-9935 claiming that they were the "Chase Bank card fraud unit" reporting fraudulent activity and instructing me to call 800-454-9078.

Caller from Chase Fraud Prevention division. Stated call regarding charge on credit card with the account ending in XXXX. The charge was declined approval. The person identified name on card, but there is no account for the person named for the charge. This is a fraud/scam.

800-454-9078 is not a scam. I got worried and called the number on the back of my card and confirmed that Chase indeed had called me.

I think the people saying this number is not a scam are the scammers. Call the number on the back of your card, always! I talked to Chase at the real number and they said it is fishing and that is not a Chase number.

Not a scam. I had bogus charged on my credit card with Chase. They were calling to know if they were fradulent or not. I didn't answer the call. I got emails from them as well. I didn't reply. I called the phone # on the back of my credit card and it was indeed about the same fraudulent activity. They canceled my card and sent me a new one. Not a scam!

I just got a call from this number saying they were with Chase Fraud Division. They put me on hold for about 5 minutes. When they came on the line they said there was suspected fraudulent activity on my account ending in the last for numbers _ _ _ _ . she asked my name and when she repeated it back to me it wasn't correct. They asked for my complete card number and I said, "I'm not giving you my card number." This card had already been shut down a few days ago for fraudulent charges and I said it was probably because of people like you. The called ended. I called Chase Card Services and they said that was a fraudulent call, they NEVER call and ask you for your card number or name. The already have that information. DO NOT EVER GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION TO THIS NUMBER!!

I got a call saying it was Chase fraud dept. I was placed on hold for 5 minutes before being disconnected. When I called Chase back, irritated it had disconnected me they said they had no record of them calling me or any fraud on my account.

For me this was a legit call. I ignored it a few times and then received an email from Chase so I called them. There were indeed fraudulent transactions that had been put through. They closed the account. For those of you saying you DON'T have a card with them... I suggest you check your credit report because someone could have opened a line of credit in your name and that is why you are getting the call.

It was a recording from Chase left on my voicemail asking me to verify recent CC purchases. I called the number on the back of my card (not the number they left on the voicemail), and Chase had actually put a stop on my card pending verification of a large transaction. It was a real transaction.

This call was legit.

I got this call and called chase through the number on my card and they said that they did contact me due to a suspicious charge ($100 for something... but I made it late at night so thats probably why it registered) they just confirmed that I made it. So this number isnt necessarily a scam.. but i would call the number on your card always just in case.

This call came to our company's conference room phone that we've had for four years. Did not ask for anyone by name. If this was a legitimate call from Chase, wouldn't they be calling the cardholder by name?

Safest bet if you think you are being scammed: call the number on the back of your card instead, or the phone number for fraud prevention they give on their website. I got the phone call and ignored it, but then my card was frozen, so I followed up with Chase. Turns out someone had used my credit card number with a wrong expiration date in Italy - I have never been to Europe. I would have had no idea if Chase hadn't been on the ball in notifying me, and then when they couldn't reach me by phone freezing my card to get my attention. By the way, I have had my identity stolen before, so I understand the paranoia, and I am super-suspicious of everything. If this Chase Fraud number is calling you, then you should maybe think that someone has stolen your identity and opened accounts in your name or associated with your phone number. Certainly not a phone call you should ignore.

I have been getting about 2 calls a day lately from (800)454-9078, supposedly from Chase's Fraud Dept. Well the problem with this and why I say it's bogus is that I don't have a Chase Credit card.

Tons of people on the net saying it's a legitimate number. It's not. I am getting repeated calls from this number and am starting to feel harrassed. I called the credit card company - they said there has been NO account activity on my card and not to give these people any information. I guess they keep going because they post to all the blogs that the're legit and people believe them.
