These people call my sister and stated they were going to file a judgment against my credit and put a lien on my vehicle. When I called Angelia Carter (Direct Consumer Group) and she stated I owe 581.11 for an old Century Link bill. After calling Century Link, the Better Business Bureau, and doing some research I discovered this was a scam. These people had all of my personal information. I call them back and asked a LOT of questions she could not answer. Also, when I asked the name of the lawyer, she could not tell me and when I asked to speak to him "of course" I could not. I told her to process whatever she had to process and I would see them in court. She then stated I would have to pay court fees, any legal fees, and the cost of the lawyers plane ticket. HOW DID THEY GET MY PERSONAL INFO. I don't put my business on the internet nor am I a social media

They just called me stating I had a bill from Verizon for $929.00 from 2012. When I called and said to take me to court then because this wasn't my bill and i will not pay it, they said they would check into it and call me back. Then when they called me back they said it seems like it was mistaken identity and they would clear the charge and I wouldn't be receiving any further called from them! What if I paid that money? I would have been scammed! I can't imagine how many elderly people they have done this to. They had me so upset and worried. Don't give them any money without doing some digging first!

They called me about a old sprint land line I had back in 2000. Threat in to make me to court put a line on my car and property and garnish my checking account. They have all my information and my social security number. They wanted almost 1000.00 for this bill. This wasn't on my credit report. Then I Google consumer group and read all these comments. Thanks

GOT A CALL FROM THIS AGENCY WHEN I CALLED THERE OFFICE A WOMAN ANSWERED AND TRANSFERRED ME TO MY CASE MANAGER GORGE I SPOKE WITH HIM AND IT WAS IN REFERENCE TO AN OLD BILL WE CAME TO AN AGREEMENT TO TAKE CARE OF THE ACCOUNT I AM IN THE PROCESSES OF TRYING TO BUY A HOUSE I PAID THE ACCOUNT OFF AND GOT A LETTER SAYING THAT IT WAS SATISFIED THEY TOLD ME I WOULD NEED TO SEND THAT OFF TO THE CREDIT BUREAU AND I JUST RECEIVED A LETTER BACK FROM STATING THAT THIS WOULD BE REFLECTED ON MY CREDIT REPORT WITHIN THE NEXT 6-8 WEEKS. IM LOOKING FORWARD TO BUYING MY HOUSE AND I GUESS THIS ISN'T ONE OF THE OLD SCAM ARTIST CALLS.

3/15/2016 - i JUST RECEIVED A CIVIL SUIT PHONE CALL FROM from Las Vegas, NV, 702.628.8213. I was instructed to call immediately 1(800) 757-4096, Consumer Report. It's Scam--they are Harassing People.

My stepson was called by someone looking for me. Weird, because his last name is not the same as mine. He was told, the call was concerning a California court case # TD 2863. From my experience, that is not a court case number. I called 800-757-4096, blocked my number, and the phone was answered as "Direct Consumer Group". I hung up, and I have no intention of calling them again. After reading the other comments, this is a shakedown scam.

I received a call yesterday from 800-757-4096. The girl's name was also Natalie. She was very polite. She said she was Accurate Location Information. She said she had civil complaint filed against me. I said I was my daughter. She asked me if I could reach her. She gave me a case number and a different phone number and told me to have her call. Called back later and spoke to a person at the other number. We asked who the company was. They said DC Group. Started to verify information, Birthday, SSN. I said I would NOT give them personal information and they would give me NO information. They said they would not share the information and would sue me. I said, "See you in court!" They also called my daughter looking or me. She said no such person. Weird thing is that they asked for me , not by my given name, but a name only someone that knows me would call me. Was a bit scary. So glad to hear you saying it was a scam.

Got a call from the same number 347 828-6200, they tried that routine on me except I am a detective in Baltimore, when I presented them with that of course there was dead silence on the phone, and of course they offered to remove me from they're calling list, that's when I explained legal suits don't come from a calling list and they immediately hung up, TOTAL SCAM!

Someone named Natalie, called me from a (347) 828-6200 saying the same thing about a civil lawsuit that was filed against me. She got my name wrong, and said she couldn't give me any more information, but to call that number where I will get more info.

I reported it to the cops n the whvs ch3 news and its a scam don't fall for it.. Beware
