DO NOT, REPEAT, DO NOT answer and get played by this caller purporting to be from DELL about some Warranty BS.
It's a SCAM CALLER and has nothing do with, nor associated with the real DELL Computer Company.
Like all the previous postings, I too have recently been bombarded with calls from this 800-847-4084 number with DELL shown on my caller ID.
I went on the DELL.com website and called DELL Customer Service directly inquire about this number to see if it was a legitimate call. The Dell Customer Service representative stated that they have NO SUCH NUMBER and DELL "DOES NOT" call Customers about their Warranties. The DELL rep said that this phishing caller is a trying to STEAL your personal information and/or gain access to your computer for your information and install some malware. Save yourselves from getting scammed and block this phone number.

This number has been calling me for several weeks. Normally I don't answer calls that my phone marks as spam but yesterday I answered the call. A woman with an accent was on the line and asked for me, I immediately asked who she was and she claimed to be from Dell Services offering me an upgrade on my warranty on my computer that I just purchased. I told her I already purchased a 3 year warranty and was not interested. She repeated her whole speal of information. I told her again I had already purchased a warranty and I was not interested and to please stop calling. They have called all hours of the day and night. It is ridiculous. I get stuff from Dell in the mail all the time, knowing it is legitimate, I do not like phone calls because theres no way to ensure they are who they say they are. Thank you

Woman with accent called my cellphone asking for my husband. Said she was calling from Dell and had a promotion for an upgraded warranty. I googled (800) 847-4084 while she was on the line, going on her spiel for several mins. She knew the type of Dell computer we'd purchased, when we'd purchased it, and the cost. After google revealed it to be a spam, I just said, "No thank you," and hung up.

They're at it again and I was almost had. How would they know what kind of computer I had and how long I've had it and previous warranties? It seems that they may have some of our personal information already but the best thing to do if you don't just hang up your phone and you listen and talk to them you need immediately check with Dell and possibly have your account placed on hold and use one of Dell's options that they will give you for your account. Yeah, after a couple of calls to me I listened for a while and I had put this lady on hold this time and used another phone to call Dell to make sure that I got no surprises later because they had current information on my computer. Anyway, the spammers are persistent and will wear on your nerves when you tell them you're not interested even offering you a lower price. People are so vain or maybe just desperate try to con us.(and you know they were not on the other line when I checked back when Dell had to put me on hold to perfect my account for safety assurance.) Some how you know or feel like they might be scammers but sometimes we may listen to see how far they will go. I'm a Senior Citizen and I hope that others like me will be as cautious. It so sad.

They are not Dell though they say the are. I called them back at 800-847-4084. I posted this elsewhere, (800-289-3355), but writing to also post here:
This is not Dell. Called twice from another scam number 800-847-4084. I called them at that number and she said they only call from this number: 800-289-3355. I said to her nicely, this is a scam. She was polite to me and told me they would only call from this legit "Dell" number being 877-262-2193. I told her politely that I called and got her at this number 800-847-4084.
I can say the women on the phone knew that I knew. She was very nice and polite. Where do we have to work nowadays to just have a job? This is awful. It is sad. I am sure she would rather be working at a company she believed in. In the United States we should all be looking at the way the rest of the world lives. I do. I feel for the gal I spoke with. She probably has a family and children. The men working at these places do too. She was nice and probably wishes she didn't have to work there.

They called me pretending to be Dell customer support and offering an upgrade for my laptop warranty (hardware + accidental). They knew how much I paid for the laptop. I asked to see the details of the warranty online and they said it is a phone offer only. I asked to call me back in 2-3 days and they said the offer may be not available in 2 days.
The called also pretended to check with her supervisor whether she could give me an even lower price.

I was called first on 4/16. The caller identified herself as being from Dell and wanting to sell me an additional warranty on my newly purchased laptop. It wasn't a convenient time and I told her that she needed to send me an email with the specifics. She continued to talk; I said it's not convenient, email me and I'll consider it. She said she could send an email and continued to talk. I hung up. I never got an email. Today I was called again & I recognized the number from before. I didn't pick up.

To those trashing Dell in this thread, this caller was an Indian scammer pretending to be from Dell. Dell was hacked last year and thousands of these scam calls have gone out to customers since then. They have all of your order and account related information. They will tell you what you purchased and when. They're selling scam warranty renewals for quick cash. Ask them for a quote via email or ask for a number to call them back and they will quickly end the call. It's a clear sign of a scammer, though a very convincing one. Do NOT give them any personal information.

Again, this is not Dell making these calls.

It is Dell Warranty support, telemarketing to sell extended warranty. I purchased a three year extension are a good price, but not what they originally wanted to sell me. If you don't mind a mail in warranty (as opposed to premium support) it is fine. I paid $79/yr for three additional years on a $1,300 laptop including 24x7 phone support. That's a reasonable price. Don't give them any personal info on the phone. Make them read you your Dell account info first to make sure they are legit. If they don't know your account then hang up. Obviously the call was from India and not to easy to communicate. In the end the transaction showed up on my Dell account as expected.
