What is a "Government Scam" Robocall?

Scammers who call people posing as a government agency are commonly referred to as "government scams". There are many different agencies these callers pose as, but they most commonly pose as the IRS. They say you have not paid your taxes and are wanted by the government. These calls can be very convincing, as they will usually have your name and home address, but they will request your social security number and sometimes even your bank information. There are other government agencies these scammers pose as, such as your local police department, the Social Security Administration, and Medicare. When people pose as government agencies, they are violating the law and should be reported immediately. If you are unsure if you are truly talking to a legitimate government agency or not, you can hang up the call, and call the real agency. Let them know you received a call asking for your information, and you want to be sure it wasn’t a scam call. The agency will be able to tell you if you are actually in trouble with them or not.

866-419-5000, call I. D. Said Waynesville city hall. I lived in a town called Waynesville back in the 1980'S!!! DUH everyone knows there isn't anyone at city hall in any town at 730pm on any day much less on Good Friday. Weird how somebody can have my cell phone number and try to trick me with something like that from my past of more than 30 years ago. Time to change number and carrier.

Why would anyone in their right mind think that calling me at 4:00am to wake me up and describe in exacting detail a missing person is a good idea? It’s completely absurd to think this is helpful to anyone. It’s hard enough getting to sleep and after this stupid Code Red missing person report, which my neighbors did NOT get, my wife never did get back to sleep last night. How does that help anyone at all? Hey Code Red, if it really is you calling, and you want to do some good, get this: AN OUNCE OF PRESENTATION IS WORTH A HUNDRED POUNDS OF CONTENT. Because that call was so worthless and disruptive I am suspicious it is really some sort of criminal scam and I will be dipped in gravy before I ever give Code Red anything but contempt. DO NOT CALL PEOPLE AT 4:00 am WITH A NON-EMERGENCY AND EXPECT COOPERATION. Why does that have to be pointed out to a reasonable person? It shouldn’t and that’s why I think it’s a criminal scam. I hope the criminals rot in hell for all eternity and that that nobody in creation takes their calls for mercy.

Call came from local emergency services notifying me that the 911 service with the local phone company was having problems and if I needed 911 services to use my cell phone. So, I don't think this is SPAM. I think that it's a valid alert. I might also mention that about a month ago, got a similar call about a bridge outage. Both times the number called a 2nd time to tell me when things were fixed and operating normally.

Even if it were legitimate, which imo it is NOT it is not something I have asked for nor do I want it. if there is an emergency in my area I will be notified in other ways. I do not need random phone calls telling me about weather or missing people or whatever other come on they are using.

866-419-5000 I think its a spoofed number that goes to an actual Federal Agency, but I think the criminal scammer is utilizing a technique of "Drone Phoning." Their objective is to capture live lines and by using a "Code Red System," more people will answer and cut down on unknown live line cold calls. Time for the government to place these worm-like maggots in solitary confinement for the rest of their natural born days.
