legit #, calling to determine charges on debit card. Called # on back of card and verified legit call
I received this call and it was legit but I was afraid to answer the questions and hung up to call my bank direct. They confirmed there had been activity in a different state. Even though I know this number was okay this time I will still never answer ANY questions in the future, but hand up and call the number on my debit card direct. We have received phone calls with the caller ID showing our land line number as the caller (with their call coming in on that line). My bank assured me that it is always best to hand up and call them direct.
This is a legitimate fraud monitoring business. If you are wary, call the number on the back of your card.
Smaller local financial institutions will use outside vendors for Fraud Monitoring your debit cards. Your bank may not be able to verify if there has been "suspicious" transactions, until your card has been locked.
They asked for my name as it appears on my card, the phone number they originally contacted me at, and the last 4 of my SSN. Basic information to verify that it was me. Then they go through a list of suspicious transactions, asking whether I made them or not. After that, they asked if I wanted to take a short survey about their service, I said no. They thanked me for my time, the call ended, and my card was no longer suspended. Shortly after, I verified with my bank that this is an actual company that they do business with.
BAnks do not and never will send an automatized voice call to you if there is possible credit Fraud. They always call with a real person to ensure the information is accurate and secure
This was a legitimate call from a fraud detection company that contracts with my bank.
